In this blog post I will talk about the extra options you have in setting up your own flavors in your data strategy .

When working with the Power Platform in general you need to have a clear Governance. Setting the boundaries to the business and leaving enough room for CitizenDevelopment and business creativity.

Having a well-defined Data Strategy is crucial in a good Power Platform Governance approach

In following blog I will go through the different options you have in configuring a clear data strategy with the help of the provided Data Loss Prevention or Data policies.

Ok let's have a closer look at how to put this functionality into action. Therefore as a first step navigatie to your Power Platform admin center by using the settings wheel. Click on the Admin center option.

Go to the Policies section and click on the Data policies menu item.

By using the New Policy button we will be setting up a new Data Loss Prevention or DLP policy. Give your policy an appropriate name and click on Next.

In the Prebuilt connectors step you can see the 3 pre-built container or buckets. You see the Business, Non-business and Blocked containers.

Goal of these is to build up different buckets with the needed connectors. By doing so you will prevent possible data leaks of your organization data being exposed.

In this example we will put MS Teams, MS SharePoint and our organization Twitter account into the Business bucket. This makes it possible that we can build Power Apps connections and Power Automate workflows with these 3 connector combinations.

So, right click on the connector you want to add and select Move to Business.

Add the end we have the 3 prebuilt connectors in the Business container or bucket.

Go further in setting up the DLP policy by clicking the Next button and define your scope. Have the DLP either applied on one or more environments or have it applied on a tenant level. Once activated build up a Power Automate workflow and try to use another connector besides the Teams, SharePoint and Twitter ones. See the DLP policy in action and blocking this.

Some extra great feature now is that you can set up your own flavor even on Connector Actions level. See below on the Twitter connection, clicking on the 3 dots and choosing the Configure Connector - Connector actions option.

Fantastic no? You can setup your data security not only on connector level but even on the Connector Actions level. Giving your Data Security an extra dimension to it.

So my recommendation is to have a good Governance in place on the Power Platform by having a clear Data Strategy.
